Solution:
Installation of Service Pack 2 on Windows XP includes turning on Windows Firewall in default installations. In its default configuration, Windows Firewall will block Pearl Echo SERVER's communication ports. To remedy this situation:

1. Access Windows XP's firewall settings from the system's Control Panel.
2. Select the the Exceptions tab and add the Pearl Echo application PechoxNT.exe to the list of Programs and Services. (Version 8 application is echoComm.exe)
